Role Purpose:

To direct, plan and manages the execution of IT Operations and Software Development for Jurni.  Jurni is a new company that aims to drive radical digital transformation with a set of service providers from multiple and diverse backgrounds. The incumbent must be willing to roll the sleeves to direct and establish practices in partnership with the CTO. A high dose of innovative thinking is required and judgement calls to expedite delivery of business outcomes.

 

Description:

The incumbent is responsible to ensure a healthy IT Operations and Software Development environment that is based on a systematic approach with defined key performance areas with the CTO. This includes managing employees and IT vendors providing services to the company to fulfil the IT/Digital strategy, roadmap and objectives. As a result, it is expected that the incumbent will participate in cross-functional teams across the business (Marketing, Project Management Office, Finance, and the CEO’s Office) in addition to the CTO Office (Enterprise Architecture, Data Practice, IT Business Engagement & IT Governance) to enable delivery of business outcomes. The key aspects of the DevOps Manager are;

  • IT Operations: Ensure that the IT Hosting environments (on-premises, cloud) which may include development, quality assurance, pre-production and production environments. The incumbent will ensure that technology lifecycle is managed (i.e. upgrades, internal process (SOPs) and provide operational reports and performance reporting. Furthermore, the incumbent will be responsible for information & technology security operations to ensure that the IT/Digital environment for the business in secure and safe
  • Software Development: Manages the SDLC for the business, ensuring that the SDLC is followed with proper quality checks observed. Software must be tested (i.e. unit, functional, integration, performance, regression and UAT). Code management and version must be observed based on agreed standards with the DevOps manager. Establishes KPAs for SDLC to be adhered to all participants (internal & external)
  • IT Vendor Management: Ensures that all IT Service Delivery partners (IT Operations, Software Developers) both internal & external provide services aligned to defined Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Operational Level Agreement (OLA). Establish SLA’s and reporting for IT Vendor performance
  • IT People Management: Ensure that there are adequate skills and personnel to undertake the IT/Digital work for the business. This will involve driving the skills development as IT/Digital evolves, to capacitate and motivate the team. The responsibilities include; recruitment, staff training, conflict management and creating a working environment that is conducive and pro-work/life balance

Qualification:

  • Bachelors Degree (Computer Science/Information Technology/Information Systems) or equivalent IT Tertiary Qualification

 

Experience Required:

  • 8 – 10+ years of IT Operations and or Software Development or related experience, leading medium to large scale development projects with multiple teams and management experience
  • Proven ITIL Service Operations and Transition Experience
  • Proven experience with cloud based / hosted infrastructure
  • knowledge and Experience with DevOps and Infrastructure Automation tooling
  • IT Vendor Management and outsourcing experience
  • Implementing SLA’s and OLA’s
  • Report generation at an Exco level
